American DBE Magazine is proud to announce the publication of a special edition highlighting the participation and leadership of diverse firms in the design and construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). This edition features a cover story on Deryl McKissack, president and CEO of McKissack and McKissack, an architectural, engineering, program and construction management firm based in Washington, D.C. Her firm served as the project manager for the NMAAHC project.
The edition also highlights the Clark/Smoot/Russell Joint Venture team that was the construction manager-at-risk for the NMAAHC project. Clark/Smoot/Russell combined the expertise of Clark Construction, one of the leading construction firms in the U.S. with the two largest African American-owned construction companies in the U.S. – Smoot Construction and H.J. Russell & Company. These firms worked together to create a stellar project, and to ensure small, diverse and DBE firms were given significant opportunities to participate in the historic project.
The design team of Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup is also highlighted in this issue as the award-winning design team responsible for the iconic NMAAHC structure.
The NMAAHC Special Edition of American DBE Magazine is available online here and print copies of the special edition can be purchased for $8.99 (shipping included) here.
