‘New Opportunities for the New Now’ is the theme for this year’s Oct. 1, virtual conference for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small, Women-owned and Minority-owned (SWaM) companies seeking contract opportunities on the $3.8 billion Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Project – the largest highway construction project in Virginia’s history. The online conference kicks off at 8 a.m. and will feature opening remarks from Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, Virginia Secretary of Transportation Shannon Valentine, Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner Stephen Brich, VDOT Civil Rights Division Administrator Sandra Norman, and Hampton Roads Connector Partners Project Executive Jose Ignacio Martin Alos. There is no cost to attend the conference; however, registration is required. Click here to access the registration page.
Conference attendees will learn details about the $500 million in subcontract opportunities, meet with key project decision makers, and hear about upcoming opportunities to bid and participate on the project. The purpose of the HRBT Expansion is to widen the four-lane segments of the Interstate 64 corridors in the cities of Hampton and Norfolk, Virginia. The project will build twin, two-lane bored tunnels west of the existing eastbound tunnel to increase capacity from Hampton to Norfolk. The majority of construction activities will occur from late 2020 to 2025, completing 10 miles of expansion work.
Malcolm Kates, the DBE/SWaM Compliance Manager for Hampton Roads Connector Partners, said: “This project is moving forward and we want DBEs and SWaM firms to be involved every step of the way. Hosting the conference online means increased access and opportunities for even more businesses to participate and learn about upcoming bids and contracting opportunities.”
The DBE/SWaM virtual conference is sponsored by: Virginia Department of Transportation, HRBT Expansion and HRCP. Hampton Roads Connector Partners is a joint venture of Dragados USA, Vinci Construction, Flatiron Constructors and Dodin Campenon Bernard.
